In the book white represents purity and innocence. Many times Daisy wore white dresses. Ironically later in the book Daisy doesn't seem so pure and innocent. She is seems materialistic. Nick says he has learned her and Tom both have destroyed relationships because of how they act. -MH
"Taking a white card from his wallet, he waved it before the mans eyes." Pg 56. This shows that white has power in the book. He had been pulled over for speeding but he waved the white card in front of the cops eyes and he was free to go. -MH
Gatbys suit is wearing a white suite the first time he meets Daisy in the book. This could represent his money or the perfection he wants people to think he has. -MH
