"But I can still read the gray names, and they will give you a better impression than my generalities of those who accpeted Gatsby's hospiltality and paid him the subtle tribute of knowing nothing whatever about him"--Nick. TS
Tom Buchanan and George Wilson. TS
You can see that Gray is seen through the Valley of Ashes. In this picture, George Wilson is not dressed up like Tom Buchanan, and you can also see that the background is gray with a depressing and drury feeling. It is apparent that there are two different lifestyles between Tom Buchanan and George. Lively and bright colors are associated with the wealthy, and dull colors are associated with the lower class. What does gray represent in The Great Gatsby?
Gray is represented in the novel by separating the high and lower class. I think this color shows how other people live. Not everybody can live an extravagant lifestyle. There is a "flashy" exciting life in New York, but there is also a part of New York where it is not as, in a sense, alive. Talia S.
pg. 26 "and a gray...railroad track" this quote shows how not everyone lives an extravagant lifestyle. Some people live run down, poor, / mediocre life.--G. Marslender

pg. 23 "Occasionally a line...ghastly creak," again the car represents a poorer and mediocre community. But, it also shows a drab lifestyle, and a represents a person stuck in a routine/rut.-- G. Marslender
